Emirates 777 spray and dust storms!

Emirates 777 spray and dust storms!
Three landings at Birmingham Airport/BHX/EGBB in summer 2013.
The first one is the most spectacular water spray performance I've seen to date. The plane approaches through a heavy shower which is just starting to leave the airfield, emerging from it into the brightness with reverse-thrust full on, looking like a dog shaking itself after a bath!
The third one must make the Emirates plane feel at home as its wake kicks up clouds of dust from the desert-like runway extension site (please note that the WIND direction is left to right).

A selection of shots from BHX/EGBB in late May and early June. It isn't raining in every shot, but that seems to be the general theme. Monarch Airbuses everywhere.

RAF Tristar visit to Birmingham Airport
Another small tribute to all those involved in these medevac flights from Afghanistan to BHX, and to this old RAF transporter which we may not see for very much longer. This is the landing and take-off of ZE704 (Lockheed L-1011 385 3 TriStar C2) , 216 Squadron Brize Norton, on 10th June 2013.

757 close-up wing condensation and vortex show

Two Thomson 757's display lovely water effects on the wings on landing and takeoff, also some nice spray from the wheels. On a very wet day at Birmingham Airport (BHX) (the same day as the 777 water show http://youtu.be/gJcYDBIcC64 ) the saturated air allows water to condense into visible clouds and vortices where the pressure drops enough on and around the wings.

Pakistan International Airlines 777-200 landing BHX
Finally on 28th May 2013 in pouring rain I got to see my first PIA 777. In a year of filming at Birmingham Airport the inconvenient (for me) arrival time of the PIA flight PK791 meant I only ever got to see the Emirates 777, so it was a special moment to film "the other" 777 - and a super-smooth landing to celebrate!.
